Hello Readers! My apologies for not writing in so long, to be honest, I've been busy with not just school, but two deputation trips to Florida, and Iowa. I've also been focusing all my attention on writing my book, which is two large steps to being done. I finished Act I, and now that I'm almost half way there to finishing the first draft, I can say that my struggles from when I first wrote it a year ago is fading in the distance. Yet there will be new obstacles that shall come my way.
I've also set my goals to making a portrait on Jean D'arc in art, it's in its early development, so I can't really say if it actually looks good yet. Although I'm pretty confident that this will be my best piece. The style in which it will portray is in colored pencil, and I've made many 'drafts' on this so that I can apply them to the real deal. I'm hoping that it will be done before April, for that's when the art show will display some of Strafford's art (my school btw). I'm not sure if I'll continue writing my critiques this month, however two of them are in the making so I hope to publish them for you to read soon. Something that will hold me back though is track, which will start next week. I'll be so exhausted that I will have to decide to write some of my book, or write here, in this playground I call a blog. Oh yea, one other big thing is that my graduation is in a month or so, and I'm excited. Sure I'll be sad later on, but for the moment, I just want to get the heck out of here. I wan to take a gap year and travel all over Europe, one place I genuinely want to see is the Black Forests, South East of Germany. Well that's that, so please endure for the many posts to come.

When I say "my blog has changed," I just mean that the site itself has, but not the core elements like my book reviews or the articles I will write (someday). Some things that did change is how I will write my reviews, and it will be in greater lengths than before. If you want to know the details, just read the 'about the articles' on my site.
I will probably write articles based on Scripture in quality I can be proud of. It won't be anything big, just comparisons of worldly views, what the Bible has to say about 'blank,' and interesting passages on life. So y'all can expect me to write these articles every once or so since I'm overwhelmed with many thoughts. Like I said, I'll be posting these articles rarely since I care about the quality of the posts. So yes this has changed, but at the same time, it hasn't. I said before that I added some rules to myself in my critiquing, the reason being is that many of them (no, all of them) were too short. What I should have written was its summary, plot, characters, and the quality of the story. My mistakes were that I rushed these posts, I wrote too much of my personal opinion, and I didn't beef 'em up with words. Not meaningless words, mind you, but words that deeply express the value of the book. I was thinking about adding a short story catalog in the sidebar, however I deemed it unnecessary for the time being because I'm writing a book, I'm eager to not only write it but also finish it every chance I get to work on it. Unfortunately, all I can say about it is the page number (it's currently on page 70, I think), and the genre, which is fantasy. I'm not permitted to tell you all for two reasons:
So yea, those are it, please don't take it personally those who know me; I just wanted to state my reasons. And those closest to me, like my family, and close friends, I can tell you, as soon as it's finished that is. Well I have nothing else I want to talk about, I guess that's it. Please, look into my site, however all of the posts are old, so you can feel free to read the shuddering reviews I was talking about. You may also feel free to share this or retweet this, and look at the wonderful site t'was made (and yes, I also use old english language sometimes in my writing, because why not? I like it). Just whatever you do, please read and enjoy (and share).
I was strolling in Barnes and Noble about two weeks ago when I came across Malice; a rare treat of fiction that I was getting myself into. There's hardly any magic in this book, but the real magic is getting into the world of the Banished Lands with no choice at all. The obvious main character is Corban, a fourteen year old boy who wants to serve under his king, Brenin, by becoming a warrior. However it was also about a boy becoming a man through pain, joy, sorrow, and hard lessons of life such as standing up for what's right, controlling your emotions in tough situations, overcoming your inner demons, and finally realizing that there's more to yourself than bullies or your own pride in this world. Other characters in the story taught me things like Nathair and Veradis' representation that good people can go bad, Cywen and Ronan's relationship represented that life is short and that every minute together counts as something worth living for, and how Corban rescued a wolf he named Storm from the clutches of a unfair justice system where kids are also responsible for their parents' sins (which isn't really true, and Corban made that very clear). The plot is basically a prophesy for Elyon's chosen hero to take down Aseroth's chosen and to basically save the world before a deadline of a sun turning black forever. The giants in this book are neither antagonists or a peaceful race, but rather foes that can prove to be almost, if not more, cunning than humans when faced in battle. The antagonist though was none other than Evnis, simply because he manipulated events to pass and later betrayed his own king because his wife died of a sickness he could not cure. Even though Nathair did more than him, Evnis proved to be more evil when he started killing civilians and had a hate towards everything, including his son. His evil outweighed what Nathair did simply by whispering a few words here and there that caused a chain of events (however the Bible says that everyone has sinned and fallen short to the glory of God and that each sin makes everyone equally guilty of their own sins). Overall, I give this a five out of five stars. The only thing that I'll criticize is that time flew too fast because I was so into it. Also, there needs to be more lore, but it did great with two or three backstories in the lore that made it necessary to read (not like in other fantasies when they throw up lore on a lot of people to the point where they're bored).

AuthorI'm just your average young adult trying to write in this world. I love writing with a passion, which is one of the reasons I made this blog. |
